Diet Cherry Pepsi is my favorite drink of all time
So how could I resist?
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 20 minutes to make 3-6 hours to dry
Cost: Cheap (Dimensional Magic is $4.99)
Fun-ness: Super fun
Materials:
Pepsi Can
Small Coin
Pen
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Dimensional Magic Mod Podge
Earring Hooks
Step 1: Cutting the Can
Grab your closest Pepsi can, and cut out the largest logo. Decide what part of the logo you want to be on your coin. Trace the coin onto the back of the can (in case you mess up), and then cut it out. Try to cut it a little bit smaller than you traced, that way it'll fit perfectly!
Hot glue the logo onto the coin. Then use the "Dimensional Magic" and cover it completely. Get right up next to the edges. Let it dry from 3-6 hours. If you touch it, you'll get finger prints.
Step 3: Attaching the Earrings
I got earring backs from Joanne's. There were probably 50 backs for 2 or 3 bucks. Not bad. For this project, you gotta bend the earring loop on the bottom so it's facing the opposite way (just look at the pictures....) Glop some hot glue on your coin, and press the earring into the hot glue. Put some extra on for good measure.
And that's it! Now you can feel super awesome wearing your Pepsi Can Earrings...
Or just be the coolest mom EVER that makes them for your daughter...

ReplyDeleteI noticed that hot glue comes off after a period of time. I wonder if the dimensional glaze drys if you could pry it off the dime and then use E6000 on the earring would that work? We had some snow globes fail that had hot glue on them and then some earrings we had made failed also after about two weeks.

I drink Diet Pepsi, too, and I made some similar to these. I got some bottle cap shaped bezels from Hobby Lobby (about $2/3 for a package of 6. TIP: Hobby Lobby puts half of their jewelry supplies on sale for half off EVERY WEEK! The 2nd week the other half goes on sale for half off as well! Check once each week to see which half is on sale and you could save TONS by only buying what you need every other week! I'm cheap that way! lol)
ReplyDeleteAnyway! I cut out the small logo that's on the can (to the size of inside the bottle cap bezel) and super glued it in. Then I used my Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to seal it.
I get compliments every time I wear them and people are amazed when I tell them I made them myself. (I even sold a few pairs right before Christmas to make extra money for my crafting addiction!)
